Meet the Founder of Beacon Health Navigation - Alex
I’ve spent more than a decade working in healthcare — first in research and health sciences, and now as a Registered Nurse caring for people with complex neurological conditions. My path has taken me through genetics research, two bachelor’s degrees, and six years of bedside nursing at a major Boston hospital, where I care for patients with Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, brain and spine surgeries, brain tumors, altered mental status, and other neurological disorders. I am chemotherapy‑certified and regularly administer chemotherapy and IVIG, work I take great pride in.
Before becoming an RN, I completed my first bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences at Quinnipiac University in just two years, graduating in 2015. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2020. These experiences shaped my understanding of both the science and the human side of healthcare.
I also live with Cerebral Palsy, which affects my speech and balance. Navigating the healthcare system as both a clinician and a patient has given me a unique perspective: I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of rushed appointments, unclear explanations, and a system that expects patients to advocate for themselves without the tools to do so. That lived experience is a major part of why I created Beacon Health Navigation.
Outside of nursing, I’m a husband and father. My wife, Lauren, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and we’ve been married for more than ten years. We’re raising two incredible young children, and I work night shifts so we can balance our careers and our family life.
Through BHN, I’m bringing together my clinical background, my personal experience, and my passion for patient empowerment to help people find clarity in a system that rarely slows down to explain. My goal is simple: to offer the guidance, structure, and support I wish every patient had — so no one has to navigate healthcare alone.
